Я уже говорила что наши шипперы самые умные? Ну так вот нашли очень интересную и старую параллель. Весь текст и мнение принадлежит fieldsofbarley
"Ellen, you may be the most honest woman I've ever met."
Oh my Gawwwwsh, how did I not put two and two together up til now?!
So I’ve begun a rewatch of all Dan/Blair scenes throughout GG and I’ve finally reached up to “The Age of Dissonance” (Season 2, Episode 18 - interesting how Dan and Blair always have scenes during the 18th episode of every season) and isn’t the casting extremely interesting on retrospect?
Dan = Newland Archer
The well read, arty yet intellectually conflicted man torn between two women, who’s still unsure about how he fits into the elite society of New York and its social customs.
Serena = May Welland
Newland’s fiancee. Somewhat airheaded and immature. Seemingly innocent and the perfect woman, loved by all, yet is not as naive as she appears to be. Newland feels obligated towards her and ends up folding s easily as Dan does at times to Serena. May has a hold on Newland that he cannot ignore, just as Dan finds it hard to let go of his old feelings for Serena. Anyway, the most noteworthy thing here is that May is the biggest and final obstacle between Newland and the Countess.
Blair = Countess Olenska
May’s cousin who was cheated on by her former husband the Count = Blair, Serena’s BFF, who was treated terribly by Chuck Bass.
The Countess is unlike any woman Newland has ever met, and very quickly a huge passion develops between them. However, they are afraid to act on their feelings for each other due to fear of how it would hurt their friends and family, not to mention how it would upset the society they lived in.
Blair is unlike any girl that Dan has been involved with so far - she’s passionate, romantic, vulnerable, strong minded and intelligent. And Blair finds in Dan a gentle and kind soul, just like what Olenska found in Newland. Blair and Dan have a ‘May’ that will inevitably come in between them (Serena) and both know that their getting together would cause a HUGE upset within their tight knit circle of friends and family.
We all know how Newland and Olenska end up. Newland ends up staying with May out of guilt and a need to be the loyal and faithful husband. Olenska eventually returns to Europe.
So what will Dan and Blair decide? Will Blair leave to Europe with the Prince? Will Serena come between them? Does Dan still feel as though he owes anything to her? And how will Chuck, Nate and Vanessa react once they find out? Let’s just hope that Dair have a happier ending than Newland and Ellen, at any rate!!!
It’s going to be amazing. I swear to God these writers have been trolling us the entire time and have been setting up Dan and Blair for ages.
They are so classically romantic. I LOVE EM.
