With Patrick Roberts (Simon Miller) returning to the UES on the new season of Gossip Girl, will it spell trouble for Dan (Penn Badgley) and Serena (Blake Lively)? Well, we caught up with Simon Miller to find out. In our exclusive Wetpaint Entertainment interview, Simon dishes about some problems heading Serena’s way, tells us Patrick’s sober (for now!), and reminisces about the time Blake found a great way to “use” him physically.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How will Dan (Penn Badgley) feel about Patrick's return?
Simon Miller: Dan has nothing to be jealous about this time. It’s strictly professional between me and Serena now.
Will his return cause any problems for any other characters?
[Laughing] Just Serena. I mean, as usual, it’s Serena’s own naiveté that gets her in trouble.
What's changed about Patrick since the last time we saw him?
Yeah, you’re going to see that Patrick is not the alcoholic mess that he was last time. This is a more reformed Patrick. This is like Patrick after rehab. But there’s always the temptation of addiction still lurking, so that’s the challenge for this new Patrick. You know, can he beat the addiction? Can he stay clean?
What was it like coming back to the set?
Oh, it was just great. It was such a cool experience. I got to work with Mark Piznarski again, who was the director I worked with on one of the earlier episodes. And Blake and I had a great rapport, we got along great. I was really lucky. I got to work with her on the first show of the new season, so everyone was in the greatest mood. No one was tired yet, no one’s been working long hours yet.

A Dog, a Shrink, and an Unlikely Friendship
More Gossip Girl filming, this time with Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick, talking to an attractive woman ( Here is a video ). A new love interest perhaps? Well…not quite. It looks like there’s a distinct possibility Chuck might be redeemed for good next season, after all. The woman in the clip plays a psychiatrist and nothing screams IN NEED OF THERAPY more than Chuck Bass. Will his demons finally be exorcised? Will his daddy issues become a thing of the past? As much as we’d hate to see those go (not really), we think it’s about time Bart died for good. Let’s hope (and light about a million candles in church) this is the reason for THIS season.
Further confirming our speculation that Chuck will indeed become the man his father never was is the casting call description of the woman:

I wonder where this storyline is going to go: hopefully Chuck can finally let go of his daddy issues and change for better. (Can I just say finally - I’ve been saying boy needs therapy for a while)

You Tell Us: Will Blair REALLY Marry Prince Louis in Gossip Girl Season 5?
Blair and Chuck had an affair to remember at the end of Season 4 — then Blair jetted off to France to be with her royal fiance. After that — and a nice little positive preggers test — the showrunners pretty much left us hanging for a long, lonely summer.
Thankfully, Season 5 is rapidly approaching and we’ll again be glued to our TVs every Monday. Having watched this show religiously for the past four years, we’re already suspicious of how things will play out between Blair, Prince Louis, Chuck — and even Dan. Granted, Blair is still sporting her engagement rock in all the on-set photos we’ve seen, but that could just be for show.
Blair has said she’s happier than she’s ever been, but her feelings for Chuck are totally undeniable. And that friendship with Dan? Yep. We’re suspicious too.
What do you think, Upper East Siders? Knowing everything we do, will Blair really get hitched and become Mrs. Grimaldi?
