Ed Westwick plays billionaire bad boy Chuck Bass on “Gossip Girl,” but in real life, the TV star lives in an upscale one-bedroom rental at the Edge complex in hipster-friendly Williamsburg.
The Brooklyn development’s online description boasts that it’s “more than just a place to live. It’s a philosophy.” We wonder what posh Upper East Siders would think about that.
One-bedrooms listed for rent at the Edge are around 700 square feet and range from $3,000 to $3,750 a month. One-bedroom condos are around $550,000 to $750,000. We hear that Westwick originally visited the Edge with an eye on buying, but the commitment-challenged actor ended up renting.
Amenities include a pool with three glass walls and Manhattan views. The Edge is also home to the weekly Brooklyn Flea market and Smorgasburg food fair.

Manila, PHILIPPINES - At the heels of the success of PENSHOPPE’s most recent international campaign that brought to the country one of television’s hottest celebrities Ed Westwick, comes a holiday offering reminiscent of the taste of luxury of Upper Eastside proportions.

The campaign takes off once again from Ed Westwick’s character in Gossip Girl, that of the powerful and enigmatic Chuck Bass, but is also very much a reflection of Ed’s off-cam personality. Here, we see the 24-year old Brit dapper and relaxed in illustrious surroundings, accentuated by luxurious fabrics like red velvet, metallic satin, and trendy animal prints—all to establish the feel of the new campaign.
“The surroundings are very much that of billionaire bad boy Chuck Bass, but the clothes are very relaxed like Ed Westwick in real life. The collection has lots of great-fitting jeans, stylish tees, but with a well-tailored blazer to kick it a notch higher,” says Mendoza.
Working with Westwick
Ed Westwick is indeed quite a match for PENSHOPPE—“He is a perfect image model for where we want to go. He evokes prestige, strength, and is a global character,” says Mendoza.
One of Ed’s best qualities is that he’s stylish without being too self-conscious, brimming with confidence, yet able to maneuver between the demands of work and his social calendar. As a celebrity he’s often in the spotlight just by being his dapper self, as his personal and professional life is constantly documented by the paparazzi.
While working with an international celebrity might seem daunting, Mendoza shares how the stint with Ed was a breeze: “Ed was an incredibly polite and well-mannered guy. He was gracious despite having a very hectic schedule while he was here. He worked harder and faster than everyone, and always with a smile,” he says.
True enough, the effect of Ed’s visit was quite phenomenal. “The girls want to be with him; the guys want to be like him,” says Mendoza. “The market found him a lot more approachable than originally expected. Everything he wore in the first campaign instantly got sold out. Guys imitated his effortless style and girls bought his jackets so they could feel his embrace. It’s been a huge success,” he adds.
While Ed‘s onscreen character might be affluent and uncommonly suave, Mendoza shares: “You don’t have to be literally Chuck Bass to exude the same amount of confidence and sophistication. PENSHOPPE’s new offerings allow you to dress in decidedly uptown fashion, ready for a slew of meetings by day and a round in the clubs when the evening settles in.”
