| Gossip Girl Finale 5x24 The Return of the Ring
BLAIR MAKES A CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO MEN IN HER LIFE — When Gossip Girl goes after Blair (Leighton Meester) as she’s never done before, Serena (Blake Lively) admits she may have unintentionally played an important role in Blair’s latest nightmare. It's very telling that the only Dan related quote I can remember from S3 is Nate's "Dan doesn't always participate". I <3 Natie!

| Q:So the way the finale plays out, there isn’t any way for Chuck and Blair to reunite in the next season?
A:Actually I’d say it leaves it pretty open-ended. There’s a key scene that represents the symbolic dissolution of everything that they are and have been together, and while on the surface it might look a final “parting of ways,” there’s a pretty heavy-handed hint (via lovely Kristen Bell voice-over) that it instead represents a fresh start. Or, I should say, a landscape where they can have a fresh start. They don’t get back together in the finale, as Blair is still pretty clearly into Dan and Chuck has his own things going on, but they’re clearly on very good terms. Friendly, even.
Q: Thanks for answering that! And can you tell me what part the casino scene plays in the finale?
A: A location with a casino area is used pretty heavily in a large number of Chuck’s scenes. This is also the location where Blair meets Chuck to discuss a lot of what I mentioned earlier, and plays a large part in that “symbolic dissolution.” They’re only ever in the casino section itself briefly though, as part of a montage near the end of the episode with the “fresh start” voice-over. Blair departs from him on good terms only to find out from Serena that Dan has skipped town at the last minute (something she may or may not have aided in hastening).
Q: What is this “symbolic dissolution”? Does it have something to do with the yellow chips and Blair playing?
A: Yes. They decide to “cash out” on some of their bad mojo and have a little fun with the relief that brings.
