спойлер: Aaron Rose has gone to Argentina...and he's never coming back to Gossip Girl!

Yep, it's true: The CW confirms that the Dec. 8 episode was the last we'll see of John Patrick Amedori, who plays Serena's creepy boy-toy artist Aaron (a character who wasn't well received by many of the fans).

[Pause for happy dance.] :'( :'( :'(

So why is he off the show? And does this mean Serena (Blake Lively) and Dan (Penn Badgley) are getting back together? Read on for the exclusive dish...

"Aaron Rose was a big character in the Gossip Girl books, and I know the plan was for him to stay around a little longer," a source close to the show tells me. "But some of the powers that be weren't responding well to the way the character was going." And so, he is gone.

Sadly for you Derena partisans, the departure of Aaron Rose does not mean Serena and Dan are finally settling down. Jessica Szohr tells E! exclusively that over the next few episodes, "Serena and Dan are running in circles with their relationship." (Same as it ever was!)

And as I told you in the spoiler chat, just as Serena is freed up, Dan will become entangled with a new lady. Sources whisper that Laura Breckenridge (Related) will be joining Gossip Girl as a hot new teacher who flirts with Dan and tortures Blair.

THE READING OF BART BASS’ WILL — With the reading of Bart’s will, Chuck (Ed Westwick), Bart’s brother, Jack (guest star Desmond Harrington), and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) learn the fate of the Bass empire. Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily’s relationship is strained as Rufus seeks details about the child he never knew he had. Noticing that his father has been acting strangely as of late, Dan (Penn Badgley) does some investigating and uncovers Rufus and Lily’s secret, putting him in the awkward situation of deciding what to do with this shocking revelation and who to share it with. Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr also star. Tricia Brock directed the episode written by Amanda Lasher (#215).

A Gossip rep declined to comment, but my UES mole says Georgina, who was last seen being carted off to the Kimberly Shaw Correctional Institute for Psycho Bitches, will reappear toward the end of the season.
